Remote Ethernet Management (REM) Station is used to monitor and controlthe network of interconnected bridge/routers (brouters). The managementstation works with any extended LAN containing bridge/routers from RADNetwork Devices. REM uses the IEEE 802.1 (Part B) managementarchitecture set. A broad range of management services are availablethrough the REM station. Management information automatically receivedby the REM consists of status and alarm messages transmitted by thebridge/router unit.The network manager can look at current events taking place at each LANand between the communicating bridge/router. Network data, automaticallycollected by each bridge/router, is available upon request. Changes tothe network are executed by sending command messages to the appropriatebridge/router. Customizing the internetwork is simple andstraightforward. The REM automatically requests and receives the resultsof the bridge/router's built-in self-test and channel diagnostics.Highlights include:
